Past Projects
Trash to Treasures
About every other meeting, we devote some time to our "Trash to Treasures" activity. This is where a member of the club brings "trash" and shows everyone else how to make it into a "treasure". We have had some pretty unique ideas come up and thus found interesting and fun ways to divert trash from the landfills. Below are some of the treasures made in the past during club meetings.
  • Kaleidoscopes - Made of toilet paper rolls, aluminum cans, bread bags, and broken taillights.

Morro Bay Waste Receptacles
The Zero Waste club works with the city of Morro Bay to design, prototype, and build waste receptacles for use at Morro Bay events. Tasks include:
  • Meetings with Morro Bay representatives.
  • Design of the waste receptacles.
  • Testing of the waste receptacles.
  • Building the waste receptacles.
  • Gathering data on the projects' effectiveness.
